Sejerø has a rich and interesting wildlife - and it is possible to get
many wonderful experiences.
Sejerø is about 11 kilometre long and 2 kilometre wide and situated in
the north western part of Sealand in the beautiful Sejerø Bay.
Sejerø is one of the places in Denmark, with most sunshine hours and
less rain- and snowfall. The island has many great beaches with shallow
waters and without undercurrents or dangerous holes in the button.
Sejerø, is a low-lying island with a row of isolated high moraine hills,
wich is made during the Ice Age. The ice has pushed a part of the Danish
underground up and formed the hills. The highest hill is Kongshøj, which
is 30 metre over the waterline. In clear weather you can see Jutland
from the viewpoints.
In the Stone Age Sejerø was inhabited by fishermen and farmers and you
can still find pices of axes, arrowheads and settlements. Sejerø has
several burial mounds from the Bronz Age and in the northern part of the
island you find a burial barrow.
There are many good resorts to visit either by foot or bike. After a
trip round the island you can visit one of the local dinning places – if
you do not prefer to catch your own diner with a pole, it is very likely
you catch a fish. You can cook your fish at the camping and spend the
night – we have 100 places and 18 huts.
To visit Sejerø you either have to sail in your own boat or take the
ferry. The ferry takes about one hour and it is important to make a
booking if you want to bring you car in the peak season.
